Inland South West
Surrounded by old growth forests, rolling hills and winding rivers, the Inland South West area is the centre of the South West’s beauty and natural wonder. Scenic drives from Perth along the Balingup-Nannup-Bridgetown connection guides tourists to picturesque views, encircling charming country towns that continue to prosper in their agriculture heritage. Cattle and dairy farming, fruit orchards, wineries, horticulture and floriculture are all active sectors in the area.
Gaining access to the coast leads through the Manjimup shire, home to the rapidly growing black truffle industry. Additional travel will also lead through Pemberton towards pristine shorelines and the Bibbulmun Track, the spot where it marks its first connection with the ocean. Unquestionably, conservation is an important feature for this beautiful area with many groups such as the WA Forest Alliance and the South-West Forests Defence Foundation campaigning to protect old growth forests while also maintaining the intrinsic value of the Warren, D’Entrecasteaux and Shannon National Parks.
