West Coast

The South West Coast stretches from Bunbury to the southern tip town of Augusta.

Enriched by a Mediterranean climate, the region is a prime location for outdoor, adventure activities and relaxed getaways that allow the urban dweller to get back in touch with the natural environment.

The popular destinations, Margaret River and Dunsborough, contain the locations of world-class wineries and surf spots that are recognised internationally.  The latter also holds a revered site for significant indigenous culture and history dating back 40,000 years making it an ideal location to partake in an indigenous guided tour.  The largest population of the coastal region is located in Bunbury which holds 33,075 people.  The town has excellent public amenities, employment opportunities, and transport connections to the Perth metropolitan.

Active Issues in this area include:

  • Saving the Dalyellup Tuart Bushland
  • Conserving road verge areas
  • Reducing the amount of plastics entering the ocean
  • Opposing shark culling and drum lines/supporting government subsidies for shark deterrent devices and better signage
  • Lobbying for more walking paths and biking trails
  • Preserving our forests
  • Supporting regenerative agriculture
